Origins of RMI?

Bob and Peter, I came across this web page www.open4success.org (1/2 way down the biography section, headed 'Cultivating Coffee Trees'). The author claims to have originated RMI in a project that was subsequently handed over to HP and Sun. Doesn't sound right to me, or to agree with what I know of RMI's provenance (mostly in Modula-3 Network Objects I believe). Comments?
