about applet used in servlet

I donot know where to find that how applet was used in servlet, the problem is that I use an applet in servlet, it can be used in other computer, but in mine it cannot work. when i open the servlet page first it ask to download, but after download it can not work. other page use applet(same version) show error:java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:java.net.URL:Method getPath()Ljava/lang/String;not found What should I do? the applet can show menu, and it should interact with servlet! Who can tell me ! ergency!
