You can use filters for this, but it's not a very Tapestry-ish solution to 
the problem.

You are much, much better off building a simple Tapestry component that can 
selectively display different menu items depending on component parameter 
values.

You can end up with a very simple, clean implementation where all control 
logic is treated the same way. Otherwise, you may end up in a complex hybrid 
Tapestry-filter world that is hard to maintain.
