persistent properties using cookies

hi,

i would like to do cookie-based persistence for certain components... i 
found this page on the wiki:

 - what i would like to implement though is a selective persistence 
strategy, where you can specify which components should be persistent 
using cookies. i think in practice this would be significantly more useful..

so, two questio: what would be a "quick hack" solution to this? and how 
would i go about implementing this fully in tapestry?
