And I should clarify that I'm still not sure that gadek's patch is really a spin
"lock", but rather that it just spins until memory is coherent.  I think that as
_soon_ as the C&S is over, it's unsafe again, but that the delay is very short
so it's unnoticeable.

btw gadek, I am not trying to spoil your idea or be _too_ offensive, but rather
say that there is more good work to be done here.
