I noticed that your patches are done against Makefile.in.  Changes should be
done in Makefile.am instead since file Makefile.in is automatically generated
from Makefile.am.

You don't need to resend your patches, we will figure it out and patch the right
file.  

Note: If you modify Makefile.in, you risk losing your local changes if it gets
regenerated.
