An application that uses Swing cannot be started and fails with this error:

_X11TransSocketOpen: socket() failed for local
_X11TransSocketOpenCOTSClient: Unable to open socket for local
_X11TransOpen: transport open failed for local/stan:0

(.:8867): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:  


I suspect you are trying to connect via a tcp socket and it can't work on my
machine because my X server is launched with -nolisten.
