Hi,

I think it is important to explain it publicly.

Initially the addition of Generational GC was supposed to appear as the
first in 1.1.7 changelog/NEWS (see my pre1 email on Oct 10). However we
found out it is not yet fully stable (which is somewhat understandable
- it's just been merged).

Chris once asked me why do we allow "buggy" GGC in "bugfree". I said
I was confident that Carl would fix this problem before next release
and that I did not want to remove GGC from release just because of
that. Another good answer to this question would be that we've never
had a GGC so this is not a regression per se. But it's still a bug.

I am far from penalizing GGC "by hiding it at the end of NEWS file".

The reason I did so was that I did not want too many people to run it
YET while we know it's easy to *crash*. I am really sorry for Carl that
I had to move GGC further down the list, but I did not want regular
users to see SableVM crashing. I admire Carl's work on GGC, I know
this bug we're seeing is not GGC algorightm bug. I understood that he
was too busy just before the release of 1.1.7 to fix this hopefuly last
problem.

My intention, however, is to put GGC in the NEWS file AGAIN, this time
as the first element and this time with explicit request for testing.

This will happen on the next SableVM release after we know know GGC
has no known serious problems.

I am only waiting for Carl to let me know when he wants this to happen
:)

Hope this clarifies the issue,
