Hi Sebastien, > ... Thus, I need to know where a > pointer update is possible in SableVM. There are certainly many > places. Actually, there are very few places where pointers located in the heap are updated in SableVM. In the design of SableVM, I had anticipated the construction of generational/incremental garbage collectors, and I made sure that access to the heap was restricted to few, well-defined functions. This also helps with the maintenance of distinct object layouts (traditional/bidirectional). So, in the case of heap pointers, you have to care about update to reference fields and to arrays of references. These updates are done by: _svmf_put_REFERENCE_field() _svmf_set_reference_array_element_no_exception () Have fun! Etienne -- Etienne M.
