Yes, I agree, it's a pain.  It's a shame Apple doesn't include Fink.

Well, when this super-tarball is ready, that sounds like a good means to 
distribute everything SableVM needs.  Does it have everything needed for 
Mac OS X?  Maybe respond to the "SableVM + SableVM-CP future merge in 
one tarball or not?" thread.
