See http://sablevm.org/bugs/2 for performance results. I see no good reason why the penalty because of compressed classpath should be bigger than a fraction of second. I still need to hear from more people how *their* apps and benchmarks perform with 1.1.7-pre, especially when classpath is jarred in storeonly mode and how it compares to uncompressed (on-disk) clases.
