I think this is the problem exactly.  When I switched from Slackware to
Mandrake, I did not know about the automatic dependency
filler/downloader/installer tool known as `urpmi', or `rpmdrake' in its
graphical form.  So instead I used rpmfind.net whenever I needed new
software.

urpmi and rpmdrake install by default with Mandrake systems, so you
almost certainly have them.

Go into the Centre de contrôle Mandrakelinux, which is menu item Système
+Configuration->Configurer votre ordinateur.  In the `Gestionnaire de
logiciels' tab, the `Gestionnaire des Média' should show you an entry
for sablevm, if you entered the urpmi.addmedia command as shown on my
web page.

Then, you can quit and choose `Installer'.  There you can search for
`sablevm' and select the packages to install, then click `Installer',
and you'll be prompted for Install CDs to insert, if you used those and
need packages from them, and packages will automatically download and
install, with all the packages you need from the CDs or original install
sources included.
