SableVM meets the JVM features of 1.4.x. However, the library is
incomplete.

Many programs that depend on the directory layout of JDK will break,
because you are supposed to rely on this about as much as you are
supposed to use com.sun.* classes.

Swing is an ongoing project. I suggest you try it; some things are
there, and some aren't.

The current version is 1.11.3, though 1.1.8 is still the version in
sarge last I checked. I put down JDK 1.1.2, because that is the latest
*full* version of Java supported; however, many programs targeted to 1.4
will have no problems running on SableVM. The only way is to try it out
or use it during development, and see what happens.

Also, the compiler, jar, and other tools aren't part of SableVM; it is
just a virtual machine. jikes and fastjar are great Free alternatives,
and when there is a compatibility layer that emulates the JDK directory
layout, it will depend upon those tools.
