I have set CPPFLAGS, but it fails again.

It should be CPPFLAGS and not CFLAGS to set the -I option (it is a preprocessor option).

By setting the CFLAGS variable, the default CFLAGS option -O2 does not get use and the SableVM most efficient interpreter can broke easily when the default CFLAGS do not get used.
