To answer my own question:

I did a strace and noticed that I was missing libSDL, SableVM works great!

Hello list!

I started playing around with sablevm on an arm based board. I'm running
the arm port of Debian unstable and I installed sablevm directly from
there. Everything installed nicely and running java apps is no problem.

I also found sdljava and thouhgt that I could produce some GUIs directly
 onto the framebuffer using this nice library (I've been doing some
things with the native SDL as well). I compiled the native part and the
java part in the same environment, all went well.

So here comes my problem, SableVM does not seem to find the native
library (libsdljava.so) even though I specify it as
- -Djava.library.path="path/to/lib". I have tried with:

# java-sablevm
- -Dgnu.classpath.boot.library.path=/home/root/sdljava-0.9.1/lib/ -cp
.:sdljava-0.9.1/src/ SDLTest

# java-sablevm -Djava.library.path=/home/root/sdljava-0.9.1/lib/ -cp
.:sdljava-0.9.1/src/ SDLTest

All I get is:

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Native library `sdljava' not found (as
file `libsdljava') in gnu.classpath.boot.library.path and java.library.path

So it seems that the java.library.path property isn't being respected.

I also tested the properies by printing out
System.getProperty("java.library.path") and this gives me:

/home/root/sdljava-0.9.1/lib/:::/usr/lib

which looks as it should, I guess.

Does anyone have a clue what I might be doing wrong here?
