Yes, SableVM works on MIPS.  The latest release, 1.13, should work
out-of-the-box.

Our biggest MIPS user is the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.  See:
 http://packages.debian.org/unstable/interpreters/sablevm

So, for an experience report, you should probably try to get in touch
with the "maintainer" of the SableVM package of the Debian distribution,
Grzegorz Prokopski (gadek at debian dot org).
