Email Notification Management

Hi,

I have a requirement to manage about a dozen message templates where 
there will be variables, ($Message.To, $Message.StartDate, 
$Message.Image[]) will need to be managed in the source document as well.

Has anyone on the WM list build a backend to manage email templates? 
Please come forward!!!
