LOL yes indeed. In my JSP tutorial journey I found that, horrendously:

1. I prefer JSP 1.2 to JSP 2 with its horribly verbose XML syntax

2. I thought JavaServer Faces was going to be a great useful technology 
but all I can see is a -lot- of overcomplicated crap. I particularly 
like the way the examples I've seen show *server-side* field validation 
being specified inside the JSP pages - how is that MVC?

On the flip side, the more I read about Spring the more I like it. I 
think we should aim for a WebMacro view implementation for Spring, it 
already has them for FreeMaker and Velocity. If we can get it done, I 
may tackle it soon if work doesn't get in the way, we should contrib it 
to Spring so it goes out with their distros.
