"New BSD-style" (or maybe ASL?) would be best for such a "deep down" yet 
small library. LGPL is slightly bad for java - RMS just won't clarify the 
wording about "linking" etc and how it regards to java, as I understand 
the controversy. MPL is about two million difficult lines, and made for 
Mozilla.
