M2 X2 merge and web-settings.xml

Greetings,
It seems the contents of web-settings.xml does not get merged to the 
final we.xml when using mergefiles with maven2 and xdoclet2. Is this an 
oversight? Or has this gone away in favor of something else? I have a 
local fix (adding the merge point, and adjusting the tests expected 
files) if in fact this was an oversight and anyone would be interested 
in it.
