I have a similar issue using enums.

My code looks like this:

public class ParseErrorException extends Exception {
 
	public enum Code {
		EXAMPLE ("Example text");
		String text = ""; 

		Code(String t) {
			this.text = t;
		}
		
		public String getText() {
			return this.text;
		}
	}

	private  Code errorCode; 

	public ParseErrorException(Code ec) {
		errorCode = ec;
	}  

	public Code getErrorCode() {
		return this.errorCode;
	}  

	public String getMessage() {
		return this.errorCode.getText();
	}  
	
}

Which generates the following error:

Since I used xdoclet-1.2.1.jar and friends (as provided in Eclipse 3.1) I realise this report is of limited use.
