Unable to build xdoclet - xmlvalidate task cannot be defined

I am building xdoclet with jdk1.5.0_06 and ant 1.6.5 on Linux FC5.

I always get "xdocletsource/xdoclet-all/xdoclet/modules/modules-common.ent:149:
Could not create task or type of type: xmlvalidate"

I can see that the xmlvalidate task definitions are in ant's lib directory,
and am rather flummoxed.

Can anyone help?
