Build and install instructions for the trunk

Hi,

I am expecting to see a README file in the top level project directory 
as mentioned in the "Installation Guide" in doc directory. However, I do 
not see README file anywhere. Can someone point me to the latest build 
and install instructions for building from the trunk?
