font editor?

Anybody know how to edit fonts?  I'd like to drop all the
non-ISO-Latin-1 glyphs from the Vera ttf's we use.  It'll cut down the
file size by a huge amount.  Non-roman alphabet users can always
download a unicode font on the fly.
