updates and working jar

With the patches that I just committed, ibex.jar sucessfully runs again. 
There are still some major layout regressions, and non-OSX users should 
pull my AWT perforcement de-hancement (reverts adam's awt performance 
enhancement) from my archive at 
http://darcs.smallmerchant.com/simplex_core in order to see text at a 
reasonable size.
