Question:

Where do common key bindings go with this model. eg edit, the key bindings
for edit / a text box are common to many platforms but not all (ctrl+arrow
key to move one word at a time etc). It can't go in .lib, can it. It
doesn't belong there. It's not .lib stuff. Or am I mistaken? Is this what
you want?

I don't like the widget_layout/widget_functions separation because that's
^exactly^ what namespaces (aka directories) are used for. Why add _layout
to all your files when you can have layout.widget (or theme.widget as I'd
have called it) and simply lib.widget over lib.widget_functions.

Frankly, the more you guys 'change' the proposal, the closer it gets to the
old layout and the more it doesn't address the problems that we've
recognised in the duraction of the widget audit. But you seem to ignore
what I say about this, and I'm sick of repeating it.

You guys conject about a problematic layout system that relies on something
not yet in the core. In the mean time, I'll be working on a functionally
accurate, nicely organised set of xwts in a reasonable namespace that
perhaps just needs a few changes to the names it uses, nothing more.
There's an ancient English saying, If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The old
widget layout ^was broken^. The new, slightly-poorly-named widget set is
not**.

* overlay - which I'm more and more convinced that I don't understand what
it does over xwt.theme - what's the difference?

** it obviously doesn't work perfectly because it's still in development.

We need closure. Now.

The following proposal will be up for critique for 48 hours. Post
your criticizms IN THIS THREAD.

  http://wiki.xwt.org/Wiki.jsp?page=PNGWA (it's been updated)

This sounds selfish, but please don't post other suggestions or
proposals -- post explanations of why this one won't work. If you
can't come up with said explanation, then we're going with this
proposal.
