After puzzling a couple of people on irc I now inflict myself on the list ;-) I am running xwt on linux and 0268, 0281 & 0749 do the same thing. Using the launcher (both xwt.org and one installed locally) works fine if given an ip address. Same for xwt run on the command line. The command line also works fine with local (ie filesystem) xwars. The problem is using a launcher or the command line with a remote xwar specified with a domain name (eg www.xwar.org) - even if the domain is localhost. xwt fails with the following: splash: origin is http://localhost/xwt/itunes-demo.xwar XWT$25: couldn't resolve localhost; proceeding without permissions Platform: attempting environment-variable DNS proxy detection Platform: attempting org.xwt.plat.X11 proxy detection XWT$25: IOException while loading archive: XWT$25: org.xwt.HTTP$HTTPException: could not resolve hostname "localhost" and no proxy configured (More details including strace output are at mixdown.ca/davtest) resolv.conf uses 172.20.0.2 as the nameserver (though i tried an external dns server with the same result earlier). This ip is for my adsl modem/firewall/dns proxy box. Connection to that is via a wireless link. DNS is not firewalled outbound. DNS works fine for everything else on the network - command line apps, browser, etc. Anyone with any ideas what I'm doing wrong? -- Stuart Clark mailto:[email protected] http://www.Jahingo.com/
