Nitrogen will be usable when True Type fonts are ready.  That was 
hopefully before Adam went away, but it will be shortly after he gets 
back (September 2nd).  After a brief testing period it will become the 
stable XWT engine.

The widgets should get ported and fixed to ship with Nitrogen.  The 
announcement of Nitrogen being stable and the widget set being released 
will coincide.  This should happen some time during September (mid to late).
