Yeah, I was (believe it or not) trying to use the same standard for all.

Yeah, ok, and the authors and contributors can be listed in the AUTHORS
file.  That's fine.  Maybe extend it to be:

<!-- See COPYING for license details [LGPL]
     And AUTHORS for author information -->

Although I do think that, at some point, there has to be a line drawn
between 'heavy modification' and 'rewrite' wrt to authors/contributors. 
For instance, although the current Lithium focusable code is an
evolution of your old focusable code, it's completely different.  I
guess that can be described as a 'derivative' and all that can be
explained.

I dunno, IANAL so maybe I'm suggesting something slightly silly here.
