compiling arts problem

I have not been to this list before but i have been using kde for a few y=
ears.=20
I am upgrading Caldera 3.1.1 and did compile 3.0.1 a while ago. However=20
something has alterred in between times. I am now unable to compile arts
in anything from 3.0.2 to 3.1 beta. It bombs out at the same place everyt=
ime.

Being that I am programming ignorant the parse error it ends with is=20
meaningless to me.
