I agree with Heiko: The floppy is by now so strongly associated with "save",
people do not need to ever have seen an actual floppy disk to understand it.
And he has the numbers to prove it (see the link in his comment).
A flash card, on the other hand, would surely work excellent for "save on a
flash card", but not for saving anywhere else. The floppy has transcended from
a representation of a real-world object to a learned symbol. Why waste that
