Maybe, but we still pay tons of taxes to maintain a royal family with birth
rights. Our King waived almost all of his power in 1848 in fear of all the
revolutions that had been happening in Europe.. pretty smart move. , it
fooled my fellow cheeseheads into believing our royal family is harmless
because they have little political power.

Never mind that Maxima Zorreguieta (the wife of our crown prince) was able to
skip most of the immigration procedures while that's a painful process for
many others.. Never mind that when you point out an inequity like that people
will bitch at you and defend the royal family.. "a royal family like ours is
so unique, it's our history!"..

While we actually had a republic system which caused Benjamin Franklin to say
"In love of liberty and in the defense of it, Holland has been our example".
But then Napoleon goes rampant in Europe and for some reason after his defeat
we settle for a King instead of the republic we really were.

I don't call that sensible.. ;-)
