How many do support the war?

Some time ago, one of the Americans on this list wrote that he had yet to meet 
one person that supported the war. I got an email from San Antonio, Texas, 
today that contained this:

"There is one thing here in the media that really makes me wonder: 
Some surveys say that 70% of the american population is "pro war" (so 
only 30% are against the war). I don't know - If I think about the 
people that I know, I don't think this is realistic. Maybe the other 
way around - 30% pro war, that might be right. I am talking about 
Texas, the ultra-conservativ state! I even know a considerable number 
of military people, since the military is the second largest industry 
here in San Antonio (...and a lot of cyclists & runners that we know 
are military). But even with these people - they are real humans with 
very diverse opinions!"

The guy sent this email to so many it people it could have been a mailing 
list. So I feel free to quote it here.

These are subjective impressions, of course. Not exactly statistically 
relevant. Still, makes me wonder: How many Americans really support the war?
