i thought that Unix System Resource was an acronym that arrived after the fact 
(retronym) and that originally /usr was indeed "user"? Unix Sys Res is, IMHO, 
silly compared to the simplicity and obviousness of "user" for two reasons:

 o there are system resources elsewhere in the FS, often much more fundamental 
ones than those in /usr
 o most people have little idea what is and isn't a Unix System Resource, 
while most can grok the concept of system vs user

UNIX people never were all that great at naming things. good code, but odd 
names.
