Does Mandrake remove KPPP?

Does Mandrake 9.1 remove KPPP or not install it by default? If so, why? None of the substitutes work! Instead I'm left with a system that doesn't seem to have any command line utilities for dialup (forget those stupid pppd/chatscript manpages). A completely useless DrakConnect utility that plain doesn't work (in an mcc that takes forever to load modules), doesn't give me logs or feedback, just says "Connecting..." and never does. "Connect to the Internet" from the menu doesn't do anything. gnome-ppp is just as useless. KPPP is the one dialup that has unfailingly worked for me on just about every system I've tried it. Why would they remove it? Summary of Mandrake 9.1 upgrade: -- Left my system unbootable. -- A rescue CD that can't properly handle even a simple root=/dev/hda3 -- Left me with an LVM that fails randomly on boot -- Left me with broken sound and no way to fix it. -- Left my KDE HEAD system undisplayable. It seems they ripped out many of the decent and popular non-truetype fonts? -- Left my network connection unusable. Later, Navin.
