  You clearly miss some things then. Rush Limbaugh has gotten very mad at some 
of Bush's compromises with the Dems numerous times. Considering that he is 
the most vocal conservative voice not in a political office...

  Many conservatives agree with some of Clinton's policies. I don't think we 
need assault rifles, but I understand the current law can cause some problems 
with non-assault weapons as well. "Don't ask, don't tell" isn't all that 
great, but the conservative solution probably would cause a lot of 
problems... I would imagine Bush doesn't see it as political capital well 
spent.

  Bush wasn't the best character at the time. I do think he has changed quite 
a bit however, as you note below he is a recovering alcoholic as of 1986. 
Sure, maybe he isn't, but I haven't seen any signs indicating otherwise for 
the moment.

  Might be interesting, if nothing else, to completely eliminate critics on 
this issue, if it turns out he is not.

  Personally, I think it was neat, especially since he was a pilot. I would 
have supported any president who wanted to fly out in a military jet. Hey, 
I'd do it if I were president! It was probably a big morale booster too.

  Every president wastes money for photo ops and such. It's just the way it 
is.
