That's just > how one-sided things are here. > > We'll even see if this mail leaves the Great Firewall of America. ah, sarcasm. =) the problems in the press of China are remarkably different than those in the press of the USA. this does not mean that one or the other does not have problems; there is more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. in China, there is obvious and gross outright censorship and violence against those who would engage in a free press. in the USA, there is vast political maneuvering and careful sanitization of information that is released to the public via major news and information channels. i'd much rather live in the latter than the former, any day. but given the option, i'd like to see the latter fixed as well since it isn't conducive to a truly informed and open society and opens doors to those who would prefer to see Freedom tossed out the window completely. this is especially poignant since it is the power brokers who are manipulating things. and no, this isn't some conspiracy theory concept that i've read about, i've seen it happen first hand not only by comparing American media to foreign media outlets, but also by watching the American media machine do its thing up close while I lived there. - -- Aaron J.
