I was merely reflecting your debate technique: ignore completely what your opponent has to say and instead make up something completely ridiculous, then attack them for that. If you feel unable to argue against points actually made by the opposing side, then I suggest that there is very little point participating in debate, and that it is in fact you, who suffers demonstrably from an inability to listen to reason or, indeed, anything at all. Perhaps you would also like to explain to the man's wife why you consider her physical abuse worthy of considerably less of a punishment that the mere physical insult carried out upon the policeman. The story also implies that the man was charged with assault against the same police officer, but that this carried a lesser charge (although no specifics are mentioned). If this is the case, then perhaps you would like to explain to the policeman why you consider it just that spitting carries a life sentence, but an assault apparently carried out upon the same person is worthy of a lesser sentence. I haven't found anything to substantiate your claims that the man is a convicted rapist, but I am not inclined to disbelieve it. If the man is indeed a convicted rapist, it begs the question as to why the victim of this rape is considered so worthless, so inhuman when compared to a police officer, that such direct, physical abuse is considered worthy of considerably lesser punishment. -- Dan.
