Always a bad thing for software. The problem is that: 1) Any useful software algorithm will almost inevitably be independently redeveloped elsewhere. Saying whoever gets there first 'owns' it is ludicrous. 2) Software is already covered by copyright, and is, correct me if i'm wrong, the only form of IP protected by both patents and copyrights. This causes an unacceptable double restriction, and gives IP holders too many rights. -- Dan.
