OT: Ads on OfB.biz (Help Decide About New Format)

I'm testing a new type of advert on Open for Business. It's a bit different 
than what most web sites are using, although Yahoo (and I also hear Salon) 
has used something similar for awhile. 

It's called in interstitial. Here's what it does: when you click on a 
interstitial related link, before you get to that link, you get a full page 
ad for 10 seconds. Unlike a popup or popunder the interstitial does not 
launch a separate window, and each interstitial allows you to skip over it in 
less than 10 seconds if you click "skip."

In other words, its sort of like traditional radio or tv advertising in that 
you wait for the "programming" to come back. <g>

Here's why I'm saying all of this: the question I have is whether these are 
unduly annoying. If you don't like any ads at all, I'm sure you won't like 
this. But, if you have accepted that ads are a necessary evil of free 
media/entertainment/etc., how does this fair against others?

To me, it seems that I like these better than popups/popunders in that they 
remain in the window that I'm viewing the web site with. They also go away 
after a short period of time, which is nice. Finally, if you view one, you 
won't see another one on the same site for 25 minutes.

You can give it a test run at http://www.ofb.biz. If you try to go to an 
article, you'll see an interstitial first. If you go back to the front page 
and try to view another article, you will not see another interstitial.

So, waddaya think? Your feedback will help me decide whether this is a good 
thing (tm) or a bad thing. Another question: if interstitials eventually 
meant that there were no other ads, or very few ads, on the pages in between 
them, would your view of them change?
