What I learned: make sure that you can turn down the brightness to an
acceptable level. My screen (AG Neovo K-19) is very bright, even if I turn
brightness to 0 it is still brighter than my CRT was at maximum... I read
that many newer models have the same problem.

TFTs are a special type of LCDs (one transistor per pixel). I don't think that
you can buy non-TFT color screens for computers.

Plasma monitors, but they are very expensive and only used for very large
screens.

There are a few new technologies that are currently used for smaller screens
(e.g. mobile phones and digital cameras), but they are not available in
computer screens yet.
