Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what might cause this.
Saturday night, I turned off my system. On Sunday afternoon, I booted it
back up and all of my basic KDE settings were gone: Kicker was back to
the way it is by default in Mandrake, wallpaper did the same,
screensaver, KWin style, etc., etc. Konqueror remembered its homepage
and bookmarks but lost all of its cookies.

That, I guess could be attributed to some weird config failure. But
here's another weird thing: Evolution didn't loose many of its settings,
but some of the layout adjustments I had made were also reset.

Any idea what might reset some parts of GNOME apps' configuration and
most of KDE's configuration files?

This is the same system that lost all the KMail settings last week.

  Thanks,
       Tim
