I fail to see how the fact it is (currently) working for you makes any 
difference to the fact that numerous problems exist, and that Tim has 
successfully proven that at least one of said problems is not just my 
imagination.

Funny how while using Slackware I chop, change and recompile base system 
packages almost daily, yet have never managed to create a system as buggy or 
completely unusable as a fresh installation of Mandrake.

Oh yeah, but at least your scanner works, so it must be really good. How silly 
of me not to see past random lock ups, lost configurations and god knows what 
else to the sheer brilliance of Mandrake's setup tools.
