no, actually, Tim hasn't proven such a thing. what we do know is that he's
using MDK, and he's having a problem. the causality between those two facts
isn't clear to me at all at this point. perhaps he could install another OS
on the same machine and perform the same pattern of usage and see what
happens. it may be his use of specific parts of MDK, such as ReiserFS, and
were he to use ext3 or some other fs perhaps the issues would go away. i say
this because i've run into more than a few ppl who have had issues with
ReiserFS on various OSes; perhaps the version of ReiserFS MDK shipped was
buggy and so that combination is to blame. but who knows; it's all conjecture
and best guess.

humans do have a tendency to take input and form its interpretation upon the
template of past experience. perhaps something similar is happening here?

in any case, i fail to see how the fact that you have had problems with MDK
makes any difference to the fact that many people, including Andy and myself,
have and continue to use MDK to great success.
