I know a company in The Netherlands that switched to Linux about 2 years ago.
They chose KDE as desktop environment, because they found it to be "the best 
replacement available for the Windows GUI".

No 2 years later 2 of the employees that were using KDE on their pc had to 
switch back to WindowXPs, because the software they now use only runs on 
Windows.

But they started to like Linux/KDE so much, they beg every week or so to 
switch their machines back to Linux :)
