Just 1 thought: That's a very big chance for both Gnome and KDE!
For me this looks like something very good: it looks like
a chance for true competition between Gnome and KDE on the
SuSE Linux platform.
Richard Seibt stating things like (...)"we will also enable our
customers to use GNOME with the same convenience and comfort
KDE offers to me and all SUSE employees today" and even "Why
do we not open Linux for Apple's Mac OS desktop?" shows that
SuSE now is seriously aiming at giving Gnome (and perhaps other
desktops too) the same attention and support they have nicely
been giving to KDE for years.
To repeat myself: for me this looks very good (even if it doesn't
mean I am going to install Gnome now) since it will result in KDE
and Gnome competing for being the best in a fair way - *not* due
to the SuSE company pushing one of them but because of the SuSE
customers worldwide being told: Take the one that's best for you!
For KDE this means:
Continue improving, aiming at being the best choice!
I am sure Gnome people have similar thoughts ;-) so the result
will be two even better desktops, and better chances for Linux
to conquer (ALIAS "konquer") the world of desktop computing.
Karl-Heinz :-)
