So society is changing and with that the roles within a family. Agreed. What I'm trying to say (as I did in Orkut's San Francisco community in an approriate thread) is that I oppose to any kind of government funding for relationship choices. So expanding benefits I already find doubtful is not something I'll support. Citizens choosing to have a family which provides both role models *might* be of enough value for children and society[1] to justify government benefits, but I'm honestly not sure. As long as it is so hard for me to justify the benefits for both-sex marriages, it's virtually impossible to me to justify benefits for same-sex marriages. [1] Perhaps menstruation and erections weren't the best examples but I simply *do* see a significant difference between the two sexes. I'm not saying the current situation is ideal, but the proposed changes would make the situation even worse, from a libertarian point of view. Allowing same-sex couples into the elited of same-sex couples won't do a thing against the discrimination of singles, polygamists, etc etc. If this is about equal rights, don't change the nature of discrimination, end it.
