Using fink to compile kde

After giving you all around 20 hour break from my endless questions, 
I'm a back! (school let out. =)      )

I'm still stuck on getting aRts to compile. (I'm still getting an error 
about needing pkg-config). I've been told that you can use find to 
compile kde somehow, but I have two questions:

1) HOW?!???? (pretty straigh forward . :) )
2) Will it lesson my ability to contribute stuff? (well, ok, there is 
not much help on me being able to contruit stuff. Lemme rephrase that) 
Will it lesson my ability to act as a guinie pig? =)
