OK, I'm no expert either, but I would suggest just trying to compile as per
the instructions on the Wiki... If you can't follow the instructions ask
here and then update the Wiki so others can better understand as well.
The problem with Scribus arises when you "hack out" the X11 dependencies, as
they may need to be replaced by something else... but the Scribus people
themselves may have a mailing-list/other that will have helpful people on
it. They would probably be happy to hear about your problems as the main
reason for using Qt is to move away from X11 and they may not be aware of
their X11 dependencies.

Try doing a compile. Post the results here. Try again. Ask the helpful
people around the place. Try compiling again.

Post your specific difficulties here.

If you need to learn a little programming first there are heaps of online
resources... if-def is a very normal C technique.

OK, I think I'm gonna have to go through line by line in the Scribus
code and hack out X11 dependencies. Martin Costabel of Fink (maintans
the package for them) says there is a lot of X11 stuff and it may
cripple the program. OK, but I'm willing to try.

What I need help with is how to do if-def stuff. The examples on the
wiki are too brief for me to follow--I am but a code-fu grasshopper
(and a baby one at that). Can anyone give me some guidance, using small
words that are easily digested? =) Or point me to some online
resources?
