kde apps and keyboard behavior

I've installed kile and all the necessaries kde's package but I've a=20
strange problem.
I'm unable to select text using SHIFT+KEYBOARD_ARROWS, also I haven't=20
find the combination for the "home, end, pg up, pg down" keys...

Is this normal?

PS: I also noticed that sometimes, when I start a program,  is launched=20=

an app called "kded" that does nothing and exits after a while.
What's kded?
